Sheese Apple Pie!

Sheese Apple Pie!

Sheese Apple Pie!

Cooking an apple pie to include cheese is a popular festive and Thanksgiving dish in the American Mid-West.   But surprisingly the dish actually originated in England, where a layer of cheese was put under the crust of a pie and then put in the oven so the cheese melted into the apples.   We are delighted that our partner, Christina from the East Meets Kitchen YouTube channel, has created a vegan version, which we are calling Sheese Apple Pie!

Christina  will already be well-known to you following her YouTube review of a range of our  Sheese products.   She then followed it up with a delicious vegan version of the traditional Korean Spicy Cheesy Ramen which had us all salivating!   Now Christina brings her own Sheese Apple Pie, using our Sheese.   The cheese and apple pie connection can be traced back to England, the birthplace of Cheddar and the apple pie. Back in the 17th and 18th century, English pies were often topped with a a dairy-based sauce, such as custard. But somehow along the way, Cheddar stepped in for the sauce and the rest, as they say, is history.

Christina's recipe   uses all-vegan ingredients, including our Mature Cheddar Style Grated Sheese in the pastry and   Red Leicester Style Sheese for the sauce.   You can follow Christina's step-by-step guide in her entertaining YouTube video, packed full of useful tips on how to create this traditional dish.   We think that it would make the perfect end to a Christmas dinner, and will be enjoyed by everyone, vegan or not.

Be sure to follow Christina 's  East Meets Kitchen YouTube channel for more incredible dishes and reviews, and while you 're at it, check out her Instagram  and  Twitter  social media accounts, or support her on  Patreon.   And, of course, Christina has her own  East Meets Kitchen website, which is definitely worth a visit as it charts the influences on her recipes from around the world.
