Bute Island Foods Adds to Asda Range

Since the beginning of 2018, Bute Island Foods has had a working relationship with the giant supermarket chain Asda to supply all their own-branded "Free From" dairy-free cheese.   And now that relationship has been strengthened with the announcement that the company, who produces the Sheese range of vegan cheese, is to expand its range of Asda dairy-free cheese with two new varieties - Free From Blue Alternative and Free From Double Gloucester Alternative with Onion and Chives.   This brings the total Asda range produced by the island company to eight.   The new varieties will be available in over 132 Asda stores across the UK.

Director and Head of New Product Development Francois Lintermans was delighted about the news, which will bring an extra 4 jobs to the business that already employs 125 local islanders.   "We are thrilled to continue and expand our relationship with Asda by introducing two new vegan cheese products.   The company has rapidly expanded over the past year to meet the increase in demand for our products, due to consumer awareness of the advantages of eating a plant-based diet - whether ethical, environmental or other reasons."

Bute Island Foods is a family-run business, dedicated to producing a wide range of vegan and free-from cheese alternatives since 1994.   One of the largest employers on the island, the company growth over the last two to three years has been phenomenal, with our products now available in Sainsbury, Tesco, Lidl and Waitrose, as well as Asda.

The Asda range has seen huge success, with one of our vegan cheeses, the Asda Free From Mature Cheddar, winning an award at the BBC Good Food Blind Tasting.   Exciting times are ahead as the company looks to not only increase its worldwide presence of our own-branded Sheese range, but also secure expanding relationships with the major supermarket chains.
