Make a difference - one day a week

People have an increasing understanding of the effects of a largely meat-based diet on our bodies and planet. The livestock sector is one of the greatest contributors to serious environmental problems, most significantly greenhouse gases. The health benefits of a plant-based diet are well chronicled, with many of the leading health organisations encouraging a reduction in the amount of meat people consume. And, of course, most people agree that any reduction in the suffering of farmed animals can only be a good thing. Plus, there are significant savings to be made in a household 's weekly budget.

So, it is not surprising that more and more of us are looking to contribute to our own health, and that of the planet, in our own small way. And that is why Meat Free Monday has been gaining in popularity over the last few years.

Launched by Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney in 2009, Meat Free Monday is a not-for-profit campaign which aims to raise awareness of the detrimental environmental impact of eating meat, and to encourage people to help slow climate change, conserve precious natural resources and improve their health by having at least one meat free day each week.

If you are keen to participate in Meat Free Monday but are left wondering what tasty treats to feed the family, don 't worry. Our website 's recipe section, which is updated regularly, features only exciting meat free dishes. Plus, over the coming weeks we will be shall be highlighting some of our recipes on our  Facebook  page, so go and check it out.

And more than anything, enjoy some of our delicious dairy-free Sheeses as part of your Meat Free Monday!
