Coronavirus - Vegan Events Cancelled

We have seen how Coronavirus continues to have a huge impact on sports events around the country and beyond, but now it is having a devastating effect on the many vegan events due to have been held last weekend and in the near future.   Already we have seen the heartbreak of Arran VegFest having to cancel at the 11th hour, and this past weekend the very popular Vegan Life Live announced that it felt compelled to postpone the event until a later date.

In a statement on the front page of Vegan Life Live's website, the organisers, Prime Impact, announced that the event would be cancelled.   The statement read, "We have been closely following UK and Government & Public Health England guidelines over the past weeks.   However, as yet the government does not see the need to close down major events.   Prime impact felt the safety and weelbeing of our visitors, exhibitors, staff, partners and contractors are of paramount importance to us, and the protection and prevention of harm to all involved should take precedence."

The organisers continued, "It is now with much sadness that we have taken the decision to postpone the event after carefully listening to the feedback we've been receiving from visitors, exhibitors and participants."

Prime Impact are now working with venue Alexandra Palace in London to find a new date for the rescheduled event, once the Coronavirus chaos has abated.   The event was sponsored by Bute Island Foods, who was also offering a Sheese hamper worth £150 as a competition prize at the event.

Devastating as the cancellation of these events is, it is nevertheless gratifying to witness the responsible behaviour of event organisers as they independently make the decision to cancel or postpone their events in the interests of public safety.   If you were planning on attending one of the events in our events listing, we would recommend that you either contact the venue or visit the events' websites to ensure that the event is still scheduled to run.   But don't be surprised to see that many have been cancelled.   Vegans are, after all, highly responsible people.
