Sure, at Glastonbury this year there was a large vegan presence to cater for the many festival=goers who follow a plant-based diet.  But now vegans have their own festival, held at Newark Showground in the East Midlands, from 30th August to 1st September!

Vegan Camp-Out 2019 is the world’s largest vegan camping festival, and also the most international, with vegans coming from around 30 countries to enjoy the celebrations.  Once again the event has a huge line up of bands, speakers and guests from the world of veganism, with a variety of stages to host music and talks, and space for workshops, yoga and fitness.  And of course some of the most delicious plant-based cuisine to be found anywhere.  For those wanting to party, DJs will be playing a number of sets well into the night.

But families are well catered for, with Grow Up Vegan running the family area, with a host of activities – arts and crafts, workshops, face painting and, of course, the obligatory bouncy castle – for all the family to enjoy.  The superb vegan food on offer ranges from pizza and kebabs to Chinese and Indian, and a range of healthy smoothies and juices.

Organiser Jordan Martin first hosted the event three years ago, when 400 people attended a much smaller festival in a field.  He believed there were no social events where vegans could hang our and enjoy each other’s company as well as some great cooking.  “While there were plenty of smaller events where vegans could try out different foods, there were no events which saw like-minded vegans get together”, said Jordan.  “And that is what the camp-out is all about, and we are expecting around 7000 people to attend this year.”

The gates open at 2pm on Friday 30th August, and tickets for the entire weekend cost only £45, with large discounts for children.  So why not plan ahead and attend what will undoubtedly be a memorable weekend.
