Philadelphia based heavyweight boxer Bryant Jennings has spoken to the press about the positive effect of his vegan diet. He told The Guardian he adopted a plant-based diet for health reasons – after being vegetarian, saying the choice has been ‘really great’ for him.
Bryant is the peak of physical fitness
“[I eat] lots of peanut butter and jelly, oatmeal, quinoa, avocado, a lot of fruit and vegetables. I make my own burgers from scratch with chickpeas, black beans, lentils, quinoa, flax seeds, chia seeds. It’s all whole foods. I’m not fighting to prove anything. I’m just proud of who I am. When I have a great performance I say, ‘see, I guess I don’t need meat’. When I lift something that’s heavy that people say I couldn’t do, I say, ‘see, I guess I don’t need meat’.”
Bryant is one of many celebrities and sports personalities who have made the switch to a vegan diet, whether it be for health reasons or simply to reap the many health benefits associated with plant-based diets. Here is a nice infographic of vegan statistics and other general info that is worth a read too, which demonstrates the ever-growing awareness and focus on veganism.
