EXETER XMAS ANIMAL AID EVENT

Just a quick note to thank you once again for your support for Animal Aid's event last week. We had a great success,

with a larger crowd than ever before thanks to Benjamin Zephaniah's visit. The crowds were so dense that it was a bit

chaotic and difficult to get from one end of the hall to the other. A nice problem! Thanks again for all the wonderful

support. As always, Bute Island went down well with the punters! I hope we'll see you in Bristol again next year.

Best wishes, Mark Gold

NORWICH VEGGIE FAYRE

I would like to say a huge THANK YOU for being so generous with the samples you sent for Norwich's First Veggie Fayre! Thanks to your generosity the event was a huge success, with many people commenting on how surprised they were at the quality of the tasters we had on offer and that it certainly opened their eyes to the vegan diet and how varied it could be, with many wanting to purchase items there and then! The day was certainly a positive for all involved with an estimated 300

people coming through the doors to sample the various vegan delights on offer, the consensus being among both the

public, stall-holders and the organisers alike was that there will certainly be one next year and that a larger venue will

be needed! I have attached some photos from the day, a couple being some of the items we made with what you

sent including quiche and macaroni Sheese, I hope you find them useful!

Thank you for your generosity once again, Nicky Bensted-Smith

LIVERPOOL VEGGIE ROADSHOW

The Incredible Veggie Roadshow in Liverpool on 26 Nov was a roaring success in probably the most stunning venue

we have ever had! It was busy all day and all the stalls did well; the cookery demos and talks were packed – and everyone

loved the free samples, hot and cold. We used some of the Sheese products in our cookery demos (nice recipes, hope

you like them!) and gave the rest away on the cold food stalls. Despite the free food, the venue’s own café still took £800

selling all vegan food, much to their surprise. Staff and punters were utterly delightful and friendly and we felt really

welcomed – it’s not a stereotype about Scousers then! Thank you again to all at Bute Island for the support and

generous donations of Sheese. Our next show is Sat Feb 4th in Cambridge.

Best wishes to all the team – and a very happy holiday season.
Jane Easton.

TWICKENHAM VEGAN FOOD FAYRE

Visitors to Twickenham and North Surrey Vegetarians and Vegans' free Vegan Food Fayre on Saturday, 29 October 2011

were treated to an impressive spread of international vegan cuisine prepared by volunteers, as well as delicacies supplied

by local restaurants. Many of the dishes were prepared using free samples which were generously provided by Bute Island Foods, Meridian, Plamil and Nairns. There were a few stalls and a raffle with super prizes, including toiletries donated by

Lush and Green People and vegan meal vouchers from Karahi Spices and Village Pizza in Twickenham, Riverside

Vegetaria, Kingston and Tin Tin’s, Hampton Hill. One visitor commented, “I think it’s wonderful this was put on today.

It has given many people lots to think about! Thank you.” and several expressed their intention to reduce their meat and

dairy consumption, as a result of attending the Food Fayre. Visitors were given a list of vegan-friendly places to shop

and eat in the local area and many opted to sign up to receive emails about the group’s activities from Lesley Dove,

the local group contact, and recipes for some of the food on offer. The event feedback showed that we achieved our aim

of challenging the public’s perception that vegan food is limited and boring and gave us lots to think about for next time.

We would like to give a big THANK YOU to all our supporters and sponsors who made this event possible.

BRISTOL VEGAN EVENT

I just want to share my good news with you. My event went very well, and we even raised more money than we thought.

We had a 3-hour event in St George promoting a vegetarian/vegan diet. We have generous sponsors including

Redwoods, Frys and Bute Island Foods. My team and I (The Veggie Bowl Info Centre Team) made wonderful food

for the event, and the chef at the church even made a special vegetarian Spanish dish especially too. We raised sixty pounds and forty-five pence. In addition, Kerry McCarthy (MP of St George) came down, contributed, and said she respected what I was trying to do for the area. St George has never seen anything like this before, so it was great to

do this for the area.  We raised money for the sanctuaries, increased the public's knowledge of the cafe in the church,

and made the area aware of different food choices – a veggie-based diet. As part of our event, we had a raffle,

plant sale, food and a masseuse (who donated products from Lush). I even dressed up in a pig and cow costume

and ran around the shopping centre – which the cars and the children liked very much. The event made the

Evening Post and Kerry McCarthy's website too. I think this is a great introduction to veggie-based diet. My wish

is for local groups around the UK to follow suit and organize their own Veggie Awareness Day in their local area.

SUMMERFEST VEGAN STAND

South Shropshire Veggies are a new group located in Church Stretton. We have managed to secure a vegan stall at Summerfest. Summerfest is run by Church Stretton & District Chamber of Trade  and attracts people from all over

the county and country  due to the flavour of entertainment. This will be the first time that there has been a vegan

contribution to the event, and it will be a chance for us to reach a new audience. We are in the heart of animal agriculture.

At the event we will be cooking and giving samples of delicious vegan food, promoting vegan products and giving talks

on the health and environmental benefits of the vegan diet. There has already been interest in the lead up to the event

with people expressing interest in coming to our stall and sampling food, and asking practical questions  about a vegan diet. We will use Sheese to make a range of healthy, nutritious dishes: for example spaghetti with walnuts pears and

grated Sheese, Sheese cake and savouries.

Event date: June 29 - July 3 and July 5 - 10

ANIMAL EQUALITY VEGAN TASTING EVENT

On Sunday the 20th of March, to celebrate MeatOut Day, Animal Equality had a free

vegan sample event in London, near Covent Garden in Long Acre street.

Hundreds of curious Londoners were treated with different kinds of vegan ham,

delicious and varied sausages, pizzas with mozzarella style cheese and egg free

mayonnaise. They could also try cheddar, smoked, red mature and blue style cheeses.

All of them were pleased, and hundreds of leaflets were given out. Free vegan samples

are a great way to show people how easy and delicious vegan eating can be. It is also

another way to introduce veganism and non-human animals rights.

We want to thank all the volunteers for their help, and the companies who donated their

products, including Bute Island Foods for their Sheese range, they all made this event possible!

HERTS VEGAN STALL EVENT

The day went well. We had the stall on Hitchin Market Place from 9.30 to about 3.30, with lots of information and recipes available as well as a variety of vegetarian (mainly vegan) foods to try. As usual we had a variety of responses to the foods (especially vegan cheese which a lot of people struggle with) but lots of people were willing to try and many admitted they could happily incorporate more of these foods into their regular diet. Overall we felt the day was very worthwhile.

Thanks very much for your support. Our vegan family loves Sheese!

ABUNDANT TAUNTON EVENT

Having Started from a Free Food Fair in April, Taunton Vegans and Vegetarians had another successful

outreach stall on Saturday 2nd October with lots of tasty vegan snacks being given away at the Abundant Taunton

Event. The event, hosted by Taunton Transition Town, was held to celebrate the abundance of food at this time

of the year and TVV were on hand to offer free food and information & advice on moving towards a more

plant-based diet, using fewer resources than that of an animal-based one. It was the pizza slices (made using

Sheese on ciabatta with olives, sweet corn and home-grown tomatoes) that went down the best,

with lots of omnivores taken aback at how cheesy it tasted!

BATH VEGAN FAYRE 2010

Campaigners and volunteers with Bath Animal Action are pleased to announce that the Bath Vegan Fayre

2010 event went swimmingly, with over 150 happy punters passing through the doors. Held at Manvers

Street Baptist Church in the city centre, a moment's walk from the train and bus stations, the event lasted

from 12 till 4pm. Otherwise, the second annual free food event followed much the same pattern as the

previous year - with a dazzling array of steaming soups, chillies, rice dishes and lovingly-tended vegetable

delicacies filling the bowls of queues of hungry fayre-goers. Alongside this was a mouth-watering spread of

cakes, cookies, snacks and ethnic desserts. The tea and fruit juices flowed like never before, whilst the tables

were filled with relaxed conversation and ingested education. As well as the over-burdened information

tables, with everything from nutrition, environmental ethics, recipes, animal rights, medical science and

campaign updates, (against zoos, hunters, foie gras outlets and animal-testing laboratories) There was also

a free samples table, reading corner and children's area, plus a prize raffle – the cause of some excitement.

By the end of the day, many a happy visitor was heard singing the praises of the food, including the

immortal words: "I had no idea Vegan food could taste this good!"

SWEDISH VEGOVISION 2010

Hi guys, I just wanted to thank you for your participation in Vegovision 2010! The fair had 500 visitors and there was a

very positive atmosphere. We were extremely satisfied with how the event went, and being able to sample your products

was one of the high points of the fair. From our evaluations we have seen that what the visitors wanted the most at

future fairs, was to be able to purchase more products to take home with them. In the spring of 2011 we plan to have

an even bigger and better fair and would love to have your company exhibit again.

Once again, thank you for your participation.
Jennifer Gosser-Duncan, Vegovision 2010.

WOLVERHAMPTON VEGAN FAIR

Hi Guys
I just wanted to say thank you for the samples you sent to promote at our food fair.
Despite it being a miserable day, the event was a great success and we estimate we had about 250 people

come through the door. As usual, your products were a huge success.  People who hadn't tried it before were

very impressed and we had numerous requests for where the products could be purchased locally.

One of the places we directed them to was "Rosemarys" which is an independent health food shop in

Wolverhampton. We also urged people to ask the shops they use to stock it. The Mexican style spread

proved the biggest hit as always although the hard cheddar style seemed to go down well with the kids.
Once again, thank you for your support.

Tony, for and on behalf of Wolverhampton Vegans and Vegetarians.

SHEFFIELD VEGAN FAYRE

The day itself was a great success with a few hundred people through the doors and all the food going just before the end.

In particular we received comments about how tasty the samples of vegan chocolate were, how pleased people were

to find delicious products that were new to them such as 'Nakd' bars and how much they enjoyed vegan cheese!

All the other products we were giving away went, including all the dulse and fruit purees. Our favourite story from the

fayre is when one of our volunteers talked to a little girl who was about seven who came with her mum and she related how

great the fayre had been for her. She had told her mum she wanted to be a vegetarian only about a week before the event.

When her mum saw the fayre advertised she said "we'll go to this event and if you like the food then we'll think about it".

Both of them loved the food, and the girl particularly liked the homemade falafel, and took lots of recipes.

Her mum then told her she was happy for her to become a vegetarian now!

HOPE PASTURES EVENT

About the Hope Pastures Charity - www.hopepastures.org

The Charity was registered in 1974 and the aim was to rescue horses, ponies & donkeys that were being abused.

In April 2004 the Trust was taken over by new trustees whose aims are to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Re-home wherever

possible. Although some residents may be old and some not in the best of health, they are all cared for and loved and can

spend their days in a safe environment away from the often harsh and brutal treatment of their former years.

As well as rescuing horses, Hope Pastures hopes to provide an environment where young people can learn

directly about caring for horses in a natural setting, this interaction helps educate young people about animal welfare

and social responsibility.  Whether by visiting our web site or directly meeting the animals at our sanctuary,

we hope to foster an environment where learning and understanding can take place. It is our hope that in doing this,

we will help nurture a generation that values the natural world around us and seeks to protect the

environment and the animals we share this planet with.

Below is a couple of pictures of a recent fundraising event, where £125 was raised for the sanctuary.

EASTBOURNE VEGGIE GROUP STALL IN SEPTEMBER

Many thanks to everyone who helped make the above a great success. An amazing £220.60 was collected. Viva! are receiving £60 for raffle tickets plus £50.30 from the stall donations. Animal Aid are receiving £50 from the sale of 50 purple poppies plus£60.30 from stall donations. The main aim however was, by example and information, to influence people to live a healthier & more sustainable life. This I am confident we achieved. For example one lady, who had originally declined to sign the foie-gras petition, on reading the literature was appalled & changed her mind. A number of other visitors said they would become vegetarian or vegan after tasting various products.

Among the companies that contributed and that we would like to thank were:  Bute Island Foods.

Their range of vegan Sheeses were very popular & people couldn’t tell the difference between them & ‘ordinary’ cheese!

In Friendship, Bill Palethorpe - Eastbourne Veggie Group.

Midlands Vegan Campaigns FREE FOOD EVENT

Hi Bute Island, I’m writing on behalf of MVC to say a massive thank you for your company’s support of our organization

and our most recent vegan food give-a-way in Birmingham city centre.  We had a brilliant day and it was one of our most

successful events yet – from 11 o’clock onward the lovely public enjoyed the best of vegan ice cream, meat-free meats,

sushi, dairy-free cheeses and assorted goodies. Even with six of us and 4 x 4ft tables we were still swamped, and it was

a brilliant sight to behold.  People were genuinely thrilled to taste something new, explore new foods and many

wanted to know where to get such goodies – we were, of course, only too happy to oblige them and sincerely hope

we’ve found you some new ethically-conscious customers.  Our events are all about showing people that vegan

food has never tasted better, and we are hugely grateful for your help in our quest.  We couldn’t have done it alone!

Here’s to great-tasting vegan food, and events to come.  We’d love to work with you again in the future,

please do keep in touch! Kind regards, Alex  www.veganmidlands.org.uk

VEGAN 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE - SHEESE REACHES NEW HEIGHTS!

Bute Island Foods were recently one of the sponsors of a team from the Extreme Vegan Sporting Association who climbed thefamous Three Peaks challenge, and in doing so raised £1,900 for Animals Count a UK political party for  people and animals. This is another great example that a Vegan diet can be both exciting & very healthy.

VEGAN VIXENS SMILE & SAY SHEESE!

Many thanks to the Vegan Vixens who recently did a photo shoot wearing our Sheese T-Shirts! They are doing

a great job promoting a healthy and fun lifestyle. Kimmy and the Vegan Vixens said "we feel sexy when we eat Sheese"
